About us

Locanda Petreja

Named after the Gens Petreja who inhabited the Castrum in Roman times, is the restaurant located in Borgo Petroro, a new Country House located in the castle of the same name, just outside the lovely town of Todi.

The cuisine is run by chef Oliver Glowig, who already sports two Michelin stars – his recipes are inspired by tradition but revisited in a modern way with a personal touch.

A very colourful and embracing cuisine that celebrates the flavours and products of the Belpaese. His style of cooking is marked by a particular combination of surf and turf, a mix of light and joy, portraying his love Italy’s true colours.

The menu is its clearest Manifesto, relying on top quality raw materials, handled with expertise, technique and a pinch of creativity.

The statue of a knight is not only the symbol of Locanda Petreja, adding personality to the surroundings, but is also the name of one of the dining rooms in the restaurant called the ‘Knight’s Room’. Another two rooms have been given equally suggestive names: ‘The Stable’ and ‘The Noble Room’.

Overlooking the external courtyard, in front of the old grind stone, there is a tasting room, known as “the cellar”, which was a former barn and stronghold. It is representative of the centuries long innate talent for farming of the inhabitants of this peaceful retreat, far from the most beaten of Umbrian tracks.

The statue of a knight, symbol of Locanda Petreja, sits in the centre of the restaurant, in the room that bears its name (Knight’s Room), together with an old press and a cart that was once used for carrying hay. There are two more rooms in the restaurant: the stable and the noble room.

Overlooking the external courtyard there is a tasting room, known as “the cellar” and located in what used to be the town’s old chapel; the history of the stronghold is kept here together with the farming records of the people who inhabited this peaceful retreat for centuries, far from the most beaten Umbrian tracks.
